#1 Brussels encounters with Fucking Good Art

Fucking Good Art is a Rotterdam-based printed and online art magazine, initiated in 2003 by Rob Hamelijnck and Nienke Terpsma. FGA (subtitled ~ in selfless service for our community ~) wants to serve as a portal and resource for the contemporary art community by exploring the (international) art world from a local perspective. FGA collects and generates content through personal reports, observations, interviews, reviews, comments and critical writing by friends, artists, film producers, designers, architects, curators and others. FGA is neither academic nor historicising nor theorising, but written in a momentaneous and direct way. Whereas the magazine mainly focuses on the local situation in Rotterdam, FGA also published special issues concentrating on other European cities or regions as Munich, Berlin, Copenhagen, Switzerland,… More information can be found on: www.fuckinggoodart.nl.
aLAB invites the editors of FGA for a walk in Brussels in order to encounter several players of the city’s art scene. On Sunday the 17th of May 2009, the editors will put forward their observations, impressions and remarks in a public event.

What is aLAB ?
aLAB is a recently founded initiative with a space located in downtown Brussels. Set to focus on its raison d’être, aLAB aims to invite several players active in the field of contemporary art to experiment with the possibilities and formats of an art space.
aLAB provides the invited guests a public platform operating as a site of social and intellectual exchange, where concepts, ideas and actions can be explored and challenged.
aLAB will, in an attempt to capture its essence, document all encounters and projects on this blog.
